Project Overview

American Style Nails Academy is both an academy and a supplier of professional nail products, with a catalogue running from gel polishes and building systems to machines and tools.

The problem was never what it sells, but the scale: 1,382 products across 53 categories. The e-shop had to make that catalogue manageable for the professional who knows exactly what she wants, and inviting for the one who is still browsing.

The Goal

In a catalogue this size, the enemy of the sale is the search itself.

The main goals were:

  • finding a product in a few clicks, across 53 categories,
  • filtering by the criteria a professional actually uses: colour, effect, price,
  • surfacing the picks of the academy's own instructors,
  • showing offers and new arrivals without burying them in the catalogue,
  • buying from a phone, in the salon, between two appointments.

What We Built

We built a WooCommerce e-shop where the structure of the catalogue is the product.

The e-shop includes:

  • a mega menu carrying every category and its product count,
  • a shop page with price, colour and effect filters, each option showing how many results it holds,
  • Best Seller, New Products, Expert Picks and Trending Now sections on the homepage,
  • tabs by category across the new arrivals,
  • wishlist, product comparison, basket and a customer account,
  • a product returns request,
  • a fixed navigation bar on mobile,
  • Google Tag Manager.

    The main categories become photographic tiles on the homepage, giving a 53-category catalogue an entrance that does not intimidate.

    The Expert Picks section puts the academy's judgment ahead of the algorithm: top materials, tested, with their discount visible.

    Filters in the professional's own language

    Filtering runs by price, colour and effect, cat eye, glass, glittery, with the number of products beside each option, so no search ends on an empty page.
